Black Box Players has an open meeting every Friday at 5:00pm in the Syracuse Stage Conference Room (Rm. 240), located at 820 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13210.

Mission Statement

Black Box Players is a student run, not for profit organization that is open to all Syracuse University students. Our mission is to provide an enriching theatre experience to the University and surrounding communities. We produce the work of student artists (directors, designers, actors and playwrights) in order to support the development of theatrical expression. We encourage discussion, oppose censorship and support each production’s right to make creative choices. Admission to our events is free.

Black Box Players produces the Lab Theatre Series, a season of plays and play readings presented throughout the academic year in the Regent Theatre Complex on the Syracuse University Campus, as well as other venues available.

History

This is start of the Black Box Players 24th season. The Black Box Players started as the Lab Theatre Series producing up to six One-Weekend-Only student projects a semester. Now, we are dedicated to producing four professional theatrical shows a year, giving a two week run to every show. We also continue to produce One-Weekend-Only student projects calling them Outside the Box productions. They are performed in between our regular scheduled shows; in the Black Box, and elsewhere in the Regent Theatre Complex.
